There is ever increasing evidence on the benefits of tea drinking. Tea has high levels of vitamins, including vitamin C, vitamin B, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid and minerals such as potassium and manganese. The presence of polyphenols, particularly in green tea, gives tea high anti-oxidant properties. Polyphenols can represent around 15% of the dry weight of tea and may assist in the prevention of numerous types of cancer and various other problems including heart disease.

FairTrade
The cocoa industry, supplying the world's hunger for chocolate, is fraught with child labour problems and low commodity prices that leave a bad taste in the mouth of consumers and exacerbate poverty in developing countries. Fairtrade chocolate, made from Fairtrade certified cocoa, offers a solution for small farmers and their dependents to break the cycle of poverty.

When we started making chocolate it soon dawned on us that organic and fairtrade are inextricably linked. What’s better for the planet has to be better for the people working on it. Fairtrade is about creating more equal trading relationships. Under Fairtrade, coffee farmers are paid a stable price that covers production costs and guarantees a sustainable living.

When the price of Arabica on the open market fell below 70 US cents per pound in 2003, farmers selling to the Fairtrade market received a minimum of 121 US cents per pound. In addition, coffee producers receive a premium through the Fairtrade system for investment into local community development projects, such as schools, water wells or training.

A unique process - a great taste
Sweet William uses a unique process for producing its dairy free chocolate. Australian soy flour, derived from the finest soybeans, is blended with the best cocoa liquor to produce a smooth European-style chocolate. www.sweetwilliam.com.au
Unlike plantation-grown cacao, our farmers grow their cocoa trees under the shade of indigenous trees alongside other crops, including avocado, pineapple, coffee, papaya and bananas. The canopy of shade trees - mahogany, cedar and teak - are grown above the cacao trees and ginger is occasionally grown underneath.

BIODIVERSITY
By having a variety of cocoa and shade trees as well as interspersing this with other plants the biodiversity within the organic cocoa farm is greatly increased. This is one of the major elements, which can help fight off some of the many diseases like black pod, that can decimate a cocoa crop. We don’t spray our cocoa with pesticides, so the farmers working on it don’t suffer from the health related problems that farmers growing the cocoa conventionally may suffer from.
